This was such a wonderful read that I was so sad to have to leave the Pot Of Gold at the end of the book. I loved the antique shop and the great cast of antique dealers who pop in to update their stands in the shop. They are really quirky with hearts of gold and all knew Bonnie’s dad when he had his own shop. They keep an eye out on Bonnie and want her to be happy. Millie’s characters are always great to meet and you feel like you’ve made new friends by the end of the book.
Bonnie used to work for the man who ran a shop with her father- but finds herself looking for a new job and managing to find one with Lewis. Lewis is such a wonderful man- he’s given up a high flying job after a health scare and wants to make a success of his new venture- whilst still being fair to all of his customers. He loves his wife and is so pleased to have found Bonnie working for him.
Bonnie is in an unhappy marriage with a very controlling man and there are hints of dark secrets. You really feel for her. I was willing her to make a break and find happiness.
There are so many heartwarming moments in this book where you feel wrapped in a warm hug. There are also moments where you want the characters to just run very fast in the opposite direction.
I loved the dedication to Teddy and the love Milly had for a great friend. I totally agree with her that an animal person ‘gets it’ and their life is all the richer for sharing their days with a friend who thinks you are Wonderwoman even when you may be feeling less than sparkly! My personal best friend of the canine persuasion, sits beside me through every book I read and just one glance to the side makes your day!
I am so grateful to be a member of Team Milly and have a wonderful signed copy of her latest book to treasure.
