Christie Barlow has such a lovely writing style that you cannot help being drawn straight into her books. The cover is so wonderfully Christmassy that it calls out to you to get the mulled wine and mince pies ready and to come and sit down for a few hours in front of a roaring log fire!
Her characters are so well drawn that they could be amongst your circle of friends. Lizzie is at a bit of a slump in her life, with her marriage feeling really tired and certain neighbours looking fairly enticing!
She eagerly accepts her friends suggestion that they go away for the weekend and I love their friendship.
I was so sad to come to the end of this one.
I voluntarily read an arc of this book.
