The Silk Merchant’s Daughter- Dinah Jefferies

silk

I absolutely love Dinah Jefferies writing style. She transports you into another world and time. I’ve read other books about silk merchants and really loved them and this one was a great story. The surroundings are described so vividly that you immerse yourself in the colours and scenes around you and can just imagine yourself there.
It’s set in Hanoi. It explores family dynamics and sisterly rivalry. Nicole is given a silk shop by her father whilst her sister takes control of the business and Nicole feels second best.
It was utterly beautiful writing and I can’t wait to read her next book! With many thanks to the publisher and Net Galley for the chance to read this one.
